摘要

中国素有“玉石之国”的美誉，关于玉的历史可追溯至新石器时代。中国玉器具有极高的历史价值和艺术价值，承载着博大精深的民族文化。在跨文化交际不断深入，弘扬中华文明的须求不断扩大的今天，中国玉器及其文化开始走向世界，在此背景下，博物馆及其玉器展品名称的正确恰当英译被赋予了极为重要的意义。

本文以翻译目的论为理论基础，通过对徐州、南京、扬州、无锡、常州、苏州六个博物馆的实地考察，收集大量语料，将数据按照玉料种类，器型样式，装饰样式，制作工艺，博物馆来源分类归纳汇总，并进行分析

本文总结归纳了博物馆的玉器英译现状，博物馆大多使用直译，意译，音译，解释性翻译等翻译策略。同时运用目的论的目的原则、连贯原则和忠实原则，通过对博物馆玉器名称英译的分析，总结出三个问题：第一，博物馆翻译的不规范，及馆间馆内存在翻译的不统一；第二，博物馆玉器存在大量音译，缺少注释，具有误导性；第三，玉器名称中的文化负载词大量被漏译，有悖于博物馆翻译传达信息和传播文化的目的。

本文依靠目的论的指导，讨论了博物馆玉器英译的现状，提出应当制定行业统一的翻译标准，切实为中国文化走出去服务。
