摘要

尤金·奥尼尔是美国现代戏剧的奠基人，也是普利策奖和诺贝尔文学奖的获得者。《榆树下的欲望》是其作品中的一部经典悲剧，讲述的是因为争夺田庄而引发的家庭悲剧，讽刺了在金钱占统治地位的社会里，人的自然的情感与本性是如何被压抑与扭曲的。作者通过对剧中三位女性角色的刻画，体现了他们女性自我意识随着时间的推移由弱变强的过程。此剧不只是向读者展示女主人公的精神，更重要的是从女性主义视角理解作品中妇女争取平等权利和自由的呼声。

Abstract

Eugene O’Neill is the founder of modern American drama. He is also the winner of Pulitzer Prizes and Noble Prize for Literature. Desire Under the Elms tells about a domestic tragedy caused by the ownership of the farm. It’s also the most classical tragedy in his works. The play shows Eugene O’Neill’s view of feminism. Through the description of the three female characters in the play, women’s self-consciousness becomes stronger and stronger as time goes on. The play not only exhibits the female consciousness of the female characters, but also illustrates women’s voice of struggling for equal rights and freedom. It can inspire the contemporary people.
