A Brief Analysis of Vanity Fair in the Feminist Perspective

Abstract
The novel Vanity Fair is Thackeray's masterpiece. With the bitter irony, it described the ugliness of the British upper class, the noble and bourgeois upstarts. One of the one protagonists is Becky who was born poor but overweeningly ambitious. The other is Amelia who was in rich family with gentleness. From poverty to enter the path of prosperity is not smooth. And the life of the rich woman is rougher. It is the encounter of two people as one falls and another rises that constitutes a caring emotional and touching story. The thesis analyzes different ideas and age phenomena that the author expresses in Vanity Fair from the female perspective. It starts from the background and the influence of the characters’ personality traits with clear clues to the relationship between characters. After the completion of all the narrative way, it uses the social background at that time as improvement. It points the traits of two female main characters. The more important is to analyze character traits which are to be placed in the family background and social environment while combining the feminist perspective.
