摘　要

汉语成语是在汉语使用过程中形成的独特并且固定的表达方式。汉语成语是中华民族语言——汉语的精华,是人们在长期实践和使用过程中提炼出来的汉语语言的结晶,也是汉语修辞手段的集中体现。汉语成语主要来源于历史故事或事件﹑寓言故事﹑民间谚语﹑动植物名称和人名地名等。汉语成语的翻译主要采用直译﹑意译﹑成语译成语﹑直译加意译等方法。汉语成语的英译在翻译中占主导地位。把汉语成语翻译成英语，译者们掌握和熟悉两种语言以及其文化是非常重要的。他们必须从风俗和文化背景的角度，通过对汉语和英语语言学和文化差异的理解，尽量去把握成语的内在含义，从而使其观点与原文的精神相一致。本文简单介绍了汉语成语翻译的几种技巧。

Abstract

Chinese idioms are formed in using a language. They are unique and fixed expressions. Chinese idioms, the essence of Chinese national language, are the crystallization extracted by Chinese people in the long-term practice and use of the Chinese language and also are the embodiment of Chinese rhetoric. Chinese idioms mainly come from the historical stories or events, fables, folk proverbs, plant and animal names and personal names, etc. Chinese idioms translation includes literal translation, paraphrase, idiom for idiom translation, etc. The translation of Chinese idioms occupies a prominent place in the whole translation. This paper probes into the skills of Chinese idioms translation; What Chinese idioms translation are and what Chinese idioms translation produced should be known clearly. From the angle of Chinese-English translation, idiom translation is one of the most difficult language phenomena. To understand and translate Chinese idioms into English，it is very important for the translators to master and well acquaint themselves with the original language and the target language and their cultures. They should set out from the aspects of customs and cultural backgrounds and try to grasp the connotation of the original idiom by understanding linguistic and cultural differences between English and Chinese so as to make his version alike the original text in spirit. This article introduces several skills on translation of Chinese idioms concisely.

1 Introduction
For translation, the translation theorists have proposed kinds of different viewpoints. One of the most popular theories in China is Mr. Yanfu’s “faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance”. However, in the western countries, the most popular one is “equivalent value, equivalent effect and function equivalence.” These perspectives are mutually impacted and complement. Even if the translators have different points of emphasis, they advocate that the translation must express faithfully of the connotation of the original work and the style of the original version should be reproduced in translation.(So-called “expressing the indication of the original text faithfully”, is to express faithfully of the wording meaning, the image meaning and the implied meaning of the original work) However, not all words, expressions, or characters in the original version co instantaneously have these three kinds of meanings. Perhaps some of them only have the wording meaning, but there is no image meaning; and others may have the wording meaning and the image meaning, but without the implied meaning.
