摘 要
语言是文化的载体,它从多方面展示了文化特性。汉语和英语都涵盖了非常丰富的颜色词汇,这些颜色词不仅呈现了不同的颜色特性,同时也具有特定的文化内涵。不同文化背景的人对颜色词的基本属性有着相同的认识,然而由于地理、宗教信仰、历史、政治及文化的差异,人们通常对颜色词有不同的见解并给予它们不同的内涵。因此,在跨文化中翻译起着举足轻重的作用。
在许多研究成果的基础上,本文主要比较分析了汉英基本颜色词的文化并介绍了几种翻译策略。首先,本文介绍了文化与翻译的概念及其联系;其次,本文主体对汉英基本颜色词的文化内涵进行了分析比较;最后对颜色词的翻译策略进行了介绍。本篇论文旨在于对颜色词的文化内涵与翻译策略有一个更好的理解。

Abstract
Language is the carrier of culture, which shows cultural characteristics in multi-faceted way. Vocabulary is the foundation of language, and color words are an essential part of each language and culture. Chinese and English belong to different families of language, one is the Sino-Tibetan family and the other is the Indo-European family. Chinese and English are covered by a very rich vocabulary of color. These color words not only present the characterization of different colors, but also have specific cultural connotations. People of different cultures share the same recognition of physical features of colors. However, due to different geographical location, religious beliefs, history, politics and customs, people usually have different feelings and ideas about colors and connect them with different connotations. It is natural that Chinese and English color words have some certain cultural associations that can’t be understood by mutual people. There have been serious problems which are caused by misunderstanding in communications. Therefore, translation plays a significant role in cross-cultures.
Based on the results of many researches, this paper mainly compares and analyzes the cultures of the basic color terms in Chinese and English and introduces several strategies in translating color terms. The paper first introduces the notions of culture and translation, indicating the relation between culture and translation. In the main part, it deals with comparative analysis of cultures in English and Chinese basic color terms. In the last part, the translation strategies in English and Chinese basic color terms are introduced. The significance of this paper is to enhance a good understanding of cultural connotations as well as translation strategies in color words.

1 Introduction
In the human language, color words show the unique charm. The colorful nature offers human beings a more interesting living place, otherwise a dull world. Due to different geographical location, culture, religious beliefs and tradition, different nations have different feelings and ideas about colors although they may share some common points on colors. Chinese and English are covered by a very rich vocabulary of color. These color words not only present the characterization of different colors, but also have specific cultural connotations.
