A Tentative Study of Translation Variations in Non-literary Translation

Abstract
With the general popularity of English around the world, translating has become an important means of communication between different countries. As China is more and more engaged in international institutions and global issues, translating between Chinese and English has become an indispensable means of communication between China and the rest of the world. However, in non-literary translation, because of the huge gap between Chinese and Western culture, translators from time to time have to make some changes instead of reproducing the original word by word. This is where translation variation occurs. Accordingly, the present paper endeavors to probe into the theory of translation variation as well as its employment in practice.
Apart from the introduction and conclusion, the body of this thesis consists of three chapters, namely, causes of translation variations, nature of translation variations, and the methods of variation translation. Firstly illustrated are translation variations and the reasons of their application, and then come the features of translation itself, complete translation and translation variation. There is a comparison between complete translation and translation variation. Finally analyzed is how to make changes while translating and some methods of variations are suggested.

摘        要
随着英语语言在全世界范围的推广，翻译成为人与人之间、国与国之间交流的重要手段之一。中国越来越多地参与到国际机构和全球问题中，英汉互译成为中国与世界交流不可缺少的手段。然而，在实用文本翻译中，由于中西文化的巨大差异，译者不得不时不时进行一些改动来准确表达本意，即“变译”，而非照搬原文。因此，这篇论文旨在探讨变译理论以及在实际翻译中的作用。
除了摘要、简介与结尾部分，本文的正文部分包含三大章节，名曰变译产生的原因，变译的本质，及变译的方法。论文首先解释变译这一概念，阐述变译产生的原因，接着，分析了翻译、全译、变译的特点、实质，并且将全译与变译进行比较，重点突出变译现象，最后，讨论了在翻译中如何正确使用变译手段，并且提出了相关的变译方法。
