摘 要

商业广告英语不仅是企业出口销售、开拓海外市场的一个主要手段,而且随着外国广告的大量涌入,它已成为我国企业和消费者获取商品经济信息的重要来源。广告英语作为一种应用在商业中的语言,具有一些同其他问题不同的语言特点,在翻译时应注意两地的文化差异和本土的文化特征。本文将从广告的起源和定义出发,通过阐述什么是广告英语,由其概念入手,初步探讨了广告英语的作用;并简要分析了广告英语的意义,而其通过大量有关广告英语的文献收集到的资料按语言学分类,分别从词汇、句法等几个层次进行讨论,从分析的结果推论广告英语的语言特点以及重要性,且简单的阐述了一些广告英语的翻译技巧,为广告英语的翻译提供一些借鉴和参考。如今,我国已经加入世界贸易组织,国际政治经济形势不断改变。为了适应这种变化,我们应该对广告英语有更深入的了解。

Abstract

English advertisement is a marketing tool. It is also an important source for customers and enterprises to get goods’ information. The advertising English is different from other stylistic English. When the advertisements are translated from one language into another one, it is necessary to remain the essence of the original version on one hand, and simultaneously correspond with consumers' psychology on the other hand. This paper studies from the origin and definition of English advertisement, and studies the effects of English advertisement. Then the author uses related English advertisement literature to analyze the significance of English advertisement shortly. In addition, this paper discusses the features of English advertisement to show the English advertisement is important to us, and tells some simple translation skills of English advertisement as well. Nowadays, our country has already joint into WTO. The international circumstance is changing continually. In order to adapt to this variation, we should have a deeper understanding of English advertisement.

1 Introduction
This paper is to study the linguistic features and sociological features of English advertisement, in hope to help copywriters create more attractive advertisements. Today, we are living in a world of advertising. Advertising has already become a very specialized activity in modern times. We can see and hear advertisements everywhere. English advertisement is not only a marketing tool, but also it is an important source for customers and enterprise to get goods’ information. As consumers, we can not avoid advertisements. The enterprises advertise their products via newspapers, magazines, televisions, radios, posters and Internet, etc. Advertisement is a way of propagating and transmitting information which can not be underestimated as it is not only a good technique in persuading people to buy, but also has become a big desire for social communication which influences our society’s development and economy. Currently, with the globalization, an increasing number of overseas enterprises and products enter into the domestic market. Under the situation, business advertisement is one of the most competitive way to hand the market.
