摘　 要

英语俚语曾是一种非正式的、粗俗的、下层阶级所使用的语言。但是,在如今的时代，俚语却被英语国家各个阶层的人们所广泛地使用。在日常生活中，英语俚语随处可见，例如：电视、报纸、演讲、日常生活交际中无不夹杂着俚语。近年来，随着中外交流的增多，英语俚语在商务活动中广泛地被商务人士所使用。本文中，作者详尽地阐述了英语商务俚语新颖、幽默和简洁明了的风格特点，接着分析了俚语的商务功能及英语俚语对商务沟通的积极影响。另外，本文将从英语俚语的三种主要的翻译方法入手，研究英语俚语的翻译策略。本文还着重从语言和文化角度分析中英俚语上的差异及其内涵，以避免在商务沟通中可能因俚语使用不当而产生交际失误。

Abstract

English slang used to be an informal and coarse language. And it is used by the underclass people. However, in times like today，English slang is commonly used in English speaking countries by people on a number of levels. In the daily life, English slang can be seen everywhere, for instance, English slang is mingled with TV, newspaper, speech and everyday life communication. In recent years, with the widening communication between China and abroad, English slang is widely used by the tradesmen in business communication. In this paper, the author will elaborate the characteristics of English slang as being novel, humorous and simple, and then analyze the business functions of English slang and the profound effects of business slang. Besides, starting from the three main translation methods, the paper studies the translation strategies of English slang. In order to avoid the misunderstanding of improper use of English slang through the business communication, the paper also emphatically analyzes the differences of culture and connotation between English and Chinese from the perspective of language and culture.

1 Introduction
Nowadays, people from different classes and people of different identities are keen on using slang expressions in their daily conversations or at work, for example, in the streets, in the school and even in some formal situations. When we turn on TV or radios, we often can see that even the president and officials are trying to use slang in their speeches to get closer to their people. Besides, a lot of ad companies, newspaper offices, and TV programs are beginning to use slang so that a number of customers can be attracted. It is estimated that slang takes up one tenth of the whole vocabulary in American daily life. And people of all ages are fond of using slang expressions, for example, kids, grown man, senior citizens. And someone even claims that if one person doesn’t have a good understanding of slang in USA, he or she will never understand the real significance of its culture. Nowadays, in America, not only books, movies, but conversations between citizens are mixed with English slang. As a result, English slang is gaining increasing popularity among people of English speaking countries. And nowadays, slang expressions are becoming common and acceptable to a lot of people.
