摘　要

随着现代英语的发展，英语缩略语迅速增长，尤其是在商务领域中更是如此。自从1943年英语缩略语使用初期就得到了广泛的支持。缩略语的产生是词汇发展的一种必然趋势，它在世界各种语言都存在着，人们也都普遍所接受并且发展使得缩略语逐渐成为现今社会语言的一种新潮流。英语缩略语不仅普遍使用在商务英语中，也存在大众生活中。各个不同的翻译方式跟应用形式都使得缩略语能够渗透到不同的领域之中。如此一来，缩略语就形成了一种新的语言形式，既简洁又明了。而且，缩略语的口语化也是一大亮点。有些缩略语的规范性也是其成为新宠的原因之一。所以说，缩略语对于我们来说，不仅仅在于物质上的满足，还在精神上给予了很大的慰藉。人们在生活中有时会感到完整的一个词或者一句话是表达出来是有些繁琐的，缩略语就很好的解决了这一问题。它不但能够清晰的表达出发言人的意图，而且也能使听者更加易懂。就好比一组密码有着对应的解码器一样，缩略语就是那个密码，有着与之对应的解码器的存在来翻译出最有效的结果。这就预示着缩略语的发展前景是无限的。

Abstract

With the development of modern English, English abbreviations increase rapidly, especially in the field of business. Since 1943, English abbreviations have been widely supported in the early years of its usage. The generation of abbreviations is an inevitable trend in the development of vocabulary, which exists in all sorts of languages in the world. People generally accept it and gradually develop the acronyms to become a new trend of modern society language. English abbreviations are not only widely used in business English; it also exists in the life of the masses. The different ways of translation and the application forms enable the abbreviations to infiltrate into different areas. As a result, acronyms form a kind of new form of language, which is brief and to the point. And the colloquialism of acronym is a major bright spot. The normalization of abbreviations is one reason why they become the new favorite. For us, abbreviations do not only provide material satisfaction, they also supply spiritual comfort. People sometimes feel that speaking a long word expression or a complete sentence is cumbersome, but abbreviations are very good to solve the problem. It not only can clearly express the spokesman's intentions, but also make the listener able to understand the sentence easily. It is just like a set of code which has a corresponding decoder. Acronyms are the password, which have the existence of the decoder to translate the counterpart with the most effective results. It indicates the development prospects of abbreviations are unlimited.

1 Introduction
1.1 Background Information
Many people have a need for specialized abbreviation based on their specific field. In business writing, people adopt abbreviations to achieve brevity and efficiency. As a matter of fact, people can use common abbreviations of words whenever they recognize them. They should use the way that best fits the word for which they write an abbreviation. The simplest abbreviation is the very obvious substitutions of letters for words that have the same sound as the letter’s name. You can substitute "b" for the word "be" and the same to the "c" for "see."  Another example is “IOU” used for “I owe you.” Using numbers instead of words or letters is also a good method. You can use the number 4 instead of "for" and the number 2 in place of "to" or "too".
