Abstract：
Idioms are word combinations whose meanings cannot be deduced from the meaning of the individual parts. By analyzing the idioms we can find out that the idioms concerning the five sense organs account for a great deal of all idioms. Idioms are the essence of the language. As an important part of idioms, idioms concerning the five sense organs have vivid images, concise expressions and strong cultural characteristics. In normal cases, they enjoy double senses: figurative sense and literal sense; and there is a close connection between them. We know that translation is an activity in which one language is translated into another. It is a complex and fascinating task to translate idioms concerning the five sense organs into another language. In translating idioms concerning the five sense organs, we must abide by the basic principles of translation and use appropriate methods. This thesis is about the ways of translating idioms concerning the five sense organs. It gives the general introduction of idioms including the definition, range and characteristics of them, and introduces idioms concerning the five sense organs including its origin and cultural background, and idioms in literature. In this thesis, the author lays the emphasis on methods of translating idioms concerning the five sense organs. Domestication and foreignization are employed in this thesis. The former means to put the target as criteria; the other is means to put the source language as standard. Both of them are to make the translation typical, vivid and easy to understand.

摘  要：
习语是一个固定的词组，它的意义无法从各个词的意义中推断出来。通过研究我们发现含五官的习语占了习语的很大一部分。习语是语言的精髓，作为习语的重要部分，含五官的习语有生动的形象，简练的表达和浓厚的文化特点。通常习语都有两层意义：比喻意义和字面意义。我们知道翻译就是把一种语言翻译成另外一种语言。因此把五官的习语翻译成另外一种语言是一项复杂而艰巨的任务。翻译五官的习语时，我们必须遵守翻译的基本原则运用合适的方法。本文是关于五官习语的翻译方法的研究。本文对习语进行了概述，包括定义、范围及特点，介绍了含五官习语，包括它的起源及文化背景以及在一些文学作品中的表现。本文还介绍了一些翻译原则及翻译技巧及方法。这篇论重点讨论了一些翻译含五官习语的方法。归化法和异化法等一些翻译技巧和方法，以及怎样使用正确的方法翻译五官习语。在这篇论文中，五官习语翻译方法是重点。归化和异化在本文中有深刻的体现。前者是指把目标语作为标准，后者是将源语作为标准。它们的目的都是使翻译典型，生动，易于理解。

1 Introduction
Idioms are the essence of the language. They are word combinations whose meanings cannot be judged from the individual parts. The idioms are not only the cultural treasures, but also the valuable products that people create. As an important part of idioms, idioms concerning the five sense organs have vivid images, concise expressions and strong cultural characteristics. However, if we want to communicate with foreigners fluently and successfully, we need to learn something about idioms. Skilled and proper use of idioms can strengthen the effect of expression. To master idiom translation of English idioms will help us improve the ability of language expression and the understanding of western countries.
