Abstract
As China’s external publicity has been strengthened, foreign media have paid close attention to the development of Chinese society, and the study of the translation of Chinese-specific words is becoming the new hotspot at home and abroad. Although the translation industry in China has achieved fruitful results in this area of research, there are still many unsatisfactory areas in the study of translation theory and the practice of translation. This paper first discusses the source of Chinese-specific words, and then the cultural barrier and the transmission of cultural information in the translation of such words. By some case study, we can get some problems and difficulties in translation of terms with Chinese characteristics and try to improve them .This thesis finally introduces the translation strategies of such words.

1. Introduction
Human beings are social animals.A person can not live without communicating with others in the society. So does the relationship of countries. Great changes have taken place in China in politics, economics, science and technology and other aspects since reforming and opening-up. So in the process of international communication, terms with Chinese characteristics are translated into English. Chinese-specific words are native and their continuous emergence is the result of China’s social development and progress.
The website of China Daily opens up a column of Chinese-specific words with the latest translations, especially providing the corresponding translation of hot words. The new C/E dictionaries compiled are impressive. With China’s economic development, increasing international influence, as well as the continued expansion of foreign exchange, the reports on the political, economic and cultural aspects of China’s society often appear in foreign newspapers and magazines, many of which publish China’s special issue from time to time recently.
