Abstract and Key Words
Abstract: This study analyzes some of the cultural differences of English and Chinese idioms and discusses the methods and principles of idiom translation, aiming to provide some references for the improvement of idiom translation. English and Chinese idioms bear the different national cultures and cultural information, but their cultural traditions are closely linked and inseparable. The cultural factors in idioms are often difficult points in translation. Properly understanding and the exact translation of English idioms is necessary and is also essential for us to learn and use English.

摘 要:本文从英汉文化差异入手,分析了英汉习语中所反映的文化差异,探讨了英汉习语翻译的原则和方法,希望为英汉习语翻译水平的提高提供一些参考。英汉习语承载着不同的民族文化和文化信息,但是他们的文化传统是紧密相连,密不可分的。在翻译中,习语方面的文化现实经常是难点。正确理解英语习语的确切翻译对于我们学习和使用英语是必不可少的。

1. Introduction
Idiom, namely the idiomatic phrases, is a unique fixed expression in the course of the formation of a language and is the fixed phrases, phrases, or short sentences used and refined out of a language over a long period of time. There are a wide range of idioms, usually including set phrases, proverbs, sayings, colloquialisms, allusions and slangs. English and Chinese both have long history and contain a large number of idioms, some of which are subtle, humorous, or serious, elegant, not only concise but also vivid, witty, giving person a kind of beautiful enjoyment. Due to the geographical, historical, religious, custom differences, English and Chinese idioms bear the different national cultures and cultural information, but their cultural traditions are closely linked and inseparable. Properly understanding and the exact translation of English idioms is necessary and is also essential for us to learn and use English.
The cultural factors in idioms are often difficult points in translation. The article attempts to make some explorations on the translation of English and Chinese idioms.
