Abstract and Key Words

Abstract: This study aims to investigate the features and translation of the political news English on audiences’ acquisition. By comparing from the standpoints of vocabulary, syntax and rhetorical features, this essay analyzes the unique features and translation techniques and special requirements of political news English. The paper concludes that more techniques needed to be researched in the future.

摘要：本文目标在于探讨大众获知政治新闻英语翻译的特点和策略，经过词汇，句法，修辞方面的层层比较，论述了政治新闻英语与众不同的特征及评判标准，并给出其翻译技巧。另外，翻译者的语言能力很大程度上也影响其翻译效果。此文结尾为此后在新闻英语方面更多的技巧还需被探索。

1. Introduction
    With the advent of the 21st century, great changes are undergoing every minute and every day in every corner of the world. Thanks to the spreading of news, people begin to know what is happening at once both in the domestic and overseas. So news has become an indispensable part in people’s daily life. Among all kinds of news, political news occupies an outstanding position.
    Stevenson & Shaw once conducted a quantitative study on the contents of news from 17 countries and concluded across all nations, regions, political, and economic systems, one pattern emerges: news is politics.
    In the course of information translation, news translation is of vital importance, because it provides readers with the information of what is happening outside the country. In a special way, news translation presents the information to readers promptly and effectively.
    Political news English refers to the English used in news reporting, newscast, feature articles and opinion writing. It is a special variety of language and has unique features at various language levels, including the lexical, grammatical and rhetorical level.
