摘要
随着国际旅游业的蓬勃发展,大批外国游客涌入中国。但是,跨国旅游事业的蓬勃发展与导译员专业水平相对滞后的矛盾日益突出,导游词翻译的失误也经常出现,这不仅仅影响了游客对文化和旅游景点的理解,而且也影响了中国文化的传播。这样的现象也引起了不少学者的关注。当前国内不少学者己经就汉语旅游材料英译的问题展开探讨,但针对导游词翻译的专题性研究往往显得不够深入,所以导游词翻译出现各种失误的现象也迟迟没有得到解决。
本文主要通过运用关联理论,探讨导游词翻译应该遵循的特定翻译原则和具体翻译策略选择方面的浅显认识。关联理论为翻译提供了新的视角,关联理论中的一些重要概念,比如认知环境、认知努力、语境效果以及最佳关联性等都被运用于汉语旅游资料的英译中。作者希望通过本文的探讨,以期引起翻译界更多人对这方面的重视和更深入的研究,逐步改善中国导游词翻译质量,从而使国外游客能准确地感受中国特色文化。

Abstract
With the booming development of international tourism, large quantities of foreign visitors crowd into our country. However, at the same time, contradiction between the booming transnational tourism and relatively lagged level of tour guides is increasingly prominent, and translation errors often appear, which influenced visitors’ understanding of Chinese cultural and scenic spots and accordingly influenced the transmission of Chinese culture. This phenomenon has drawn many scholars' attention. Many researches have been done on Tourism materials’ translation, but the specialized research on translation of tourist guidance is still far from enough, and many guides’ commentaries have been translated poorly and improperly.
This paper, by using relevance theory, discusses that the commentaries translation should follow specific translation principles and concrete translation strategy. Relevance theory provides a new perspective for translation, some important concepts of relevance theory, such as cognitive environment, cognitive effort, contextual effect and optimal relevance, are often used in the English translation of Chinese travel materials. Through this paper, the author hopes that it can let more and more people of translation field pay more attention to this aspect and research deeply and gradually improve translation quality of tour guides’ commentaries, so that foreign visitors can feel Chinese characteristic culture fully and genuinely.

1 Introduction
China’s admittance to WTO has brought unprecedented opportunities to its international tourism, and Chinese tourism is developing by leaps and bounds. China is an important tourism nation in Asian countries. According to the World Tourism Organization forecast, China will be the world's top Tourism destination country, there will be more and more people coming to China for sightseeing, visiting and touring. With the vigorous development of tourism, in 2000, China first proposed the grand strategic objectives --world of great tourism power. As is known to all, China is a country with a long history and unique culture, which was inevitably reflected in Chinese tourism material. However, due to the different cultural background of the East and the West, foreign readers often feel very difficult in understanding these cultural factors. Therefore, how to introduce Chinese famous scenic spots and unique culture to foreign tourists would be an inevitable topic, and at the same time, it also puts forward higher and pressing requirement to tour guides’ commentaries (thereafter called TGC).
