Abstract

Diplomacy is an important device of communication between countries, and translation works as the bridge between communications. As an integral part of diplomacy, diplomatic translation plays an important role in the two-way conversion, barrier elimination and information transmission of the language. With the improvement of China's international status and the increase of international affairs, the state has a growing demand of diplomatic translators and pays more attention to their training and reserve. Diplomatic translation, as a tool of conveying the political position and attitude of the government to other countries, it is of vital importance to the international political, economic and cultural exchanges, so it would be likely to cause irreparable loss to the country and its civics if there is any mistake in the accuracy of language. Therefore, diplomatic translation is a very serious task and requires highly on the accuracy of the language, for which the translator must hold a serious and strict attitude towards the language processing of diplomatic translation.
Studies abroad on the accuracy of language in diplomatic translation are mainly on the basis of researches on the universals of different branches of translation, and studies at home on the same aspect are mainly on the political and encyclopedia characters of the language in diplomatic translation. When studying the accuracy of language in diplomatic translation, this paper combines both universals of different translation branches and the specific characters of diplomatic translation. This paper first lists the two key links of diplomatic translation, namely the input and output of the language, then makes the study through combining the five characters of the language in diplomatic translation, viz. the political character, the encyclopedic character, the cultural character, the contemporary spirit and normativity; besides, the paper points out the limitations of this study in the last chapter.
Given the discussions and studies above, this thesis aims at providing a reference for the research and practice of diplomatic translation as well as contributing to the development of China’s diplomatic translation.

摘要

外交是国家间交流的重要手段，翻译是与外交往的桥梁。翻译在外交工作中起着语言双向转换、消除语言障碍、传递信息的重要作用，是外交工作中不可或缺的一部分。随着我国国际地位的提高以及国际事务的增多，国家对外交翻译的需求日益增多，对外交翻译的培养与储备亦日加重视。外交翻译作为向对方传达国家、政府的政治立场和态度的工具,在国际政治、经济、文化等交往中起着至关重要的作用，如果在语言准确性方面出现失误，有可能给国家和人民带来无可挽回的损失。因此，本文就如何理解外交翻译语言准确性进行了探讨与研究。
有关外交翻译的研究，国外的相关理论成果主要基于翻译的共性之上，国内的先关研究成果主要在外交翻译语言的政治性以及内容广泛性方面。本文在研究外交翻译语言的准确性之时，既结合了各类翻译的共性，又结合了外交翻译的特殊性。
本文首先列出外交翻译的两个主要环节即语言的输入与输出，之后分别联系外交翻译语言的五个特点，即政治性、涉及广泛性、文化差异性、规范性以及时代性来进行探讨；同时，文章最后对此研究存在的局限与不足进行了陈述。
基于以上探讨，笔者希望能通过本文为外交翻译的实践与研究提供一定的参考和借鉴，为我国外交翻译事业的发展尽一份力量。
