摘要：

谚语，是人类日常生活的智慧结晶，是世界文化宝库闪亮的宝石，是语言的重要组成部分，具有深刻的文化内涵，动物谚语也不例外。本文主要从中英谚语的文化差异，民族特点，具体从动物在中西方的象征意义等方面，研究动物在中西方谚语的不同文化内涵以及动物谚语翻译中的翻译方法。

Abstract:

Proverbs, as the crystallization of human wisdom accumulating national practice and experience, are the glittering gems of the cultural treasure house in the world and an important part of language, they have profound cultural connotation, no exception to animal proverbs. This paper studies the cultural connotations of animals depicted in the proverbs between China and Western countries from the cultural differences, national characteristics, especially from the symbolizations of animal between China and Western countries. At the end, this paper will propose some methods for proverbs translation with animal words.

1. Introduction
At present, with the increasingly frequent international exchanges and closer contacts between countries, cultural exchange has become even more in-depth. Translation, especially of proverbs, is a form of cross-cultural communication, involving values, cultural psychology, aesthetic value, religious, etc. It has become an issue deserving of study both in theory and practice. Translation is a language practice combined with skills and arts, and in this process, the guidance of the corresponding theories is needed. Translation is different from creation, and not purely mechanical literal translation, but to some extent, the process for translation is a re-creation process because some adjustment has to be made to words, structures, this is what we call free translation. Although re-creation and translation are two different expressions, their ultimate goal is the same. In the specific practice of translation, only with full account of literal translation and free translation and familiar with the deep cultural system of the source language, can the translation be likely to become a successful translation in all fields.
