摘要
 
在源远流长的历史演变过程中，语言是人类创造文明的工具之一。由于人与动物的相依相存，人类的语言中必然存在大量动物词汇。语言植根于特定的文化背景之中，是对文化的反映。因为英语和汉语都拥有深刻丰富的文化背景，所以同一种动物具有的文化内涵在不同程度上存在差异，这些差异阻碍着人与人之间和国家与国家之间的相互理解。
本文主要从中英文化内涵差异角度研究中英动物词汇的文化内涵和翻译方法。通过分析动物词汇的文化内涵差异，探索形成这些差异的原因并分析和介绍中英动物词汇的基本翻译方法。通过这两方面的分析和介绍，希望能帮助人们在中英跨文化的交流中正确理解中英动物词汇的文化内涵，促进文化交流。

Abstract

In the long and continuous process of the evolution of human history, language is one of the tools with which human beings create today’s civilizations. Because of the human beings and animals live with and are dependent on each other, animal words inevitably exist in languages. All languages root in the background of a certain culture, are inflection of culture. Both English and Chinese have a deep and profound cultural background, therefore, the cultural connotations of same animal words are different from each other to uncertain extent. All discrepancies prevent the mutual understandings among people and nations.
This paper is a study on cultural connotations and translation approaches of animal words from the perspective of different cultural connotations of words in English and Chinese. Through the study of the cultural connotations of animal words, the reasons for the differences will be explained. Finally, the common approaches of translating animal words will be explored. I hope that this paper will do a favor for correctly understanding the cultural connotations of animal words and promoting communications between English and Chinese.
