Abstract:

This article mainly investigates the phonetic correspondence between Chinese and English objective nouns, emphasizing on the similarities and differences in syllable structure of English and Chinese. The aims are to help Chinese learners get to know more about English Phonetics and learn how to pronounce English correctly, express their own thoughts clearly during the daily communication and make themselves understood. Through the comparison of the similarities and differences of English and Chinese syllable structure, tone and intonation, this article illustrate some phenomenon of phonetic correspondence of English and Chinese objective nouns in translation.

本文主要介绍英汉语语音对应情况，重点谈到英汉语的音节结构，汉语声调以及英语语调，旨在帮助英汉语学习者更多地了解英汉语语音，学习如何正确使用语音在日常英语交流中更好地理解对方和表达自己的思想。通过对比英汉音节结构，声调与语调的异同，呈现英汉物体名词互译中（音译根据翻译的方法分为逐个音节翻译和部分音译）的语音对应现象。

1. Introduction
Every language is composed of three elements, i.e., phonetics, vocabulary and grammar, but phonetics is essential. “Without phonetics there can be no morphology of a spoken language, without intonation no syntax,” as Professor Firth declared. Professor A.C. Gimson also noted that “to speak any language a person must know nearly 100% of its phonetics, while only 50-90% of its grammar and 1% of the vocabulary may be sufficient.” So we must make great efforts at phonetics first and foremost in order to study English well.
He Shanfen (2002) pointed out: "in the language communication, speech sounds is the bridge to contact to both sides of listening and saying. The speech sounds is the basic material outer covering and the expression means of language. To fully understand the nature of a language, we should be first to understand the phonetic features of the language. Also, if we want to fully understand the similarities and differences of the two languages, we also must compare to the phonetic features of the two languages. Although human languages differ in thousands of ways, the speech sounds all have a common physical properties and physiological attributes."So if we want to find the English and Chinese phonetic corresponding rules, we have to understand the similarities and differences of these two kinds of speech sounds first. Engels once said: "you only have to compare your native language with other languages, and you can truly understand your own language."(Wen Jinhai,2004) In fact, on the contrary, truth is the same, that is: you have only compared foreign language with native language, and you will be able to more deeply understand and master a foreign language better.
