Abstract

   With Chinese entering into WTO in 2001, successfully hosting the Olympic Games in 2008 and the World Expo and The Asian Games in 2010, China is getting more and more attention from the world. The development of economy consolidates the status of China in the world and attracts more and more foreign tourists. As the saying goes, Hunger breeds discontentment. In addition to sightseeing, tourists are also interested in Chinese cuisine. So the English translation of Chinese dishes should be proper and normative. Only in this way, can it convey the essence of Chinese cuisine accurately.
   This paper will describe the features of Chinese dishes and then extend to the diversity of Chinese cuisine. Next, it will study the skills and principles of the English translation of Chinese dishes specifically. So, translators should devote themselves into the translation of Chinese dishes and try their best to make the translation accurate.

摘要

回想中国加入WTO,2008年中国举办的奥运会,2010年的世博会和亚运会,都体现出中国愈加引起世界的关注。我国的经济发展,世界地位得以巩固,吸引的更多的外国游客。俗话说民以食为天,游客除了观光就是享受中华美食。 所以,中式菜名的英译就需要规范,要能准确的传达菜肴的精髓。
本文由中式菜名的特点引出中式菜肴的多样性,及对菜名合理准确进行翻译的必要性。其次本文将对中式菜名的英译技巧和英译原则进行具体探讨。最终得出结论是翻译并非一对一的语言转换活动。就菜名翻译而言,翻译不仅是语言的转换,而更多的是文化内涵的传递,所以这需要翻译者深入到菜名翻译的实践中从细节出发,做到合理精确。
