Abstract:
Tourism has been one of the industries that develop most rapidly all over the world. As a civilized old country with a long history, its abundant resources, magnificent cultures, enchanting and unique natural scenery and centuries-old history, China attracts more and more foreign visitors. According to the World Tourism Organization, by 2020 China will be the largest tourism destination all around the globe, which creates a good opportunity for disseminating China’s culture undoubtedly. Though all those who visit China are not from English-speaking countries, as a universal language, English plays an important role in international cultures-exchange. As a saying goes in foreign tourism industry, tourism guides make or break a tour. High-quality translation of Chinese materials will promote China’s tourism and economic, political and cultural exchange. Hence, high-quality translations are indispensable to the development of tourism. In this paper, the author will discuss language features, demands, problems and strategies in tourism translation.

摘要:
旅游业已成为世界上发展最迅猛的产业之一, 而中国是历史悠久的文明古国,其丰富的资源、灿烂的文化、有无限魅力和独特的自然风光及悠久的历史吸引着越来越多的外国游客来华旅游。根据世界旅游组织的预测,中国在2020年将成为世界最大的旅游目的地。这无疑为传播中国文化创造了良机。虽然来华旅游的人并非全部来自英语国家,但英语作为全球通用的语言,在国际交流活动中起着非常重要的作用。国外旅游界流行这样一句话:成也导游,败也导游。做好汉语资料的翻译,可以促进中国旅游业的繁荣发展和中国与其他国家的经济政治文化交流。因而,高质量的旅游汉语资料的翻译在促进旅游业方面有着不可替代的关键性作用。本文将对旅游翻译的语言特征、要求、问题以及策略进行讨论。
