Abstract:

Culture-loaded words constitute an indispensable part in a language. From the historical development of language, all of the language is based on the particular culture environment, and at the same time, every language reflects its own cultural characteristics. Moreover, all languages were deeply influenced by different national cultures and social backgrounds. This paper will attempts to analyze the cultural connotations of plant words both in English and Chinese from the following aspects: the same plant words have the same cultural connotations in English and Chinese; the same plant words have different cultural connotations in English and Chinese; plant words in English and Chinese have unique cultural connotations. The differences of region, tradition and religion between the two languages have a great effect on the cultural connotations of plant words in English and Chinese. Due to the differences between English and Chinese, these plant words with cultural connotations are often considered very difficult to translate. Taking this into consideration, this paper will also further study the approaches of translating culture-loaded plant words. The cultural connotations of plant words in the two languages are a topic worthy of further exploration and this research has great significance in translation and cross-cultural communication.

摘  要：

文化负载词在一种语言中起着非常重要的作用。从语言的历史发展过程来看，所有语言都基于其独特的文化，同时，每种语言都反映其文化特征，而且这些语言受到不同的国家文化和社会背景的影响很大。这篇论文将从以下几个方面分析英语言中植物词的文化内涵：同一植物词在中英两种语言中具有相同的文化内涵；同一植物词在中英两种语言中具有不同的文化内涵；中英语言中植物词特有的文化内涵。英汉两种语言由于受地理，历史和宗教的影响不同，因而英汉语言中植物词的文化内涵也有所不同。因为英汉语言的差异，这些带有文化内涵的植物词通常难于翻译。因而本文将进一步探讨翻译文化负载植物词的方法。而英汉语言中植物词的文化内涵是值得进一步探讨的话题，本篇论文也将对植物词的翻译和跨文化交际有重要影响。
