Abstract
After the implementation of opening-up policy for years, China’s GDP and trade surplus experienced constant increase. However, when China’s “hard power” has improved greatly, our nation’s “soft power” is comparatively weaker, which indicates that cultural products reflecting Chinese core values, long history, brilliant and gorgeous culture are limited. Overseas-targeted political publicity texts play an important role in introducing Chinese culture, current government policy and social development. Proper translation can avoid misunderstanding, reduce diplomatic divisions, which will be of great significance in the shaping of national image and spreading of Chinese culture.
This paper will be divided into three parts: In the first part, features and text type of overseas-targeted political publicity texts will be analyzed. In the second part, Peter Newmark’s theory about semantic and communicative translation methods which refer to background and main content will be introduced. In the last part, translation principles such as accuracy and naturalness will be summarized and according to the Newmark’s theory about different text type, strategies will be put up at lexical, syntactical and rhetorical level.
The unique character of overseas-targeted political publicity texts requires OPPT translation to be accurate and natural. How to maintain the “language style” and to be “accurate” will be the purpose of this paper.

摘 要
经过几十年来改革开放,中国的GDP,贸易顺差连年增长,在硬实力得到巨大提升的同时我们的软实力如表现我们中国核心价值观、悠久历史、灿烂文化的产品对外交流与影响却十分有限。政治外宣是向世界介绍中国的文化,合理的翻译有利于减少外国对于中国现行政策、社会发展状况及文化的误读,对于塑造国家形象、减少外交分歧、传播中国文化起着巨大的作用。
本论文分为三部分:第一部分将对政治外宣文本进行分析,分析其特点及文本类型,为翻译策略的探讨做下铺垫。第二部分将介绍皮特•纽马克的语义翻译与交际翻译理论的背景,主要内容。第三部分将运用语义翻译与交际翻译理论,对不同类型文本进行词法层面、句法层面及修辞层面的分析,提出相应的翻译策略和方法。
政治外宣文本的独特性要求翻译要准确与自然,本文旨在从纽马克的理论出发,探讨在翻译时保留“语言风格”和“准确表达”的具体方法。
