Abstract

Interpreters play an indispensable role in connecting people from all over the world. The special characteristics of interpretation, such as timeliness and impromptu ness, unpredictability and diversity have put forward severe requirements and challenges for interpreters’ overall qualities. Therefore, interpreters must have solid bilingual language competence, encyclopedic knowledge reservoir, professional memory capability, and sound psychological competence in order to fulfill an interpreting task. Upon receiving an interpreting task, interpreters should make detailed preparations and keep calm and devote themselves whole-heartedly during the interpreting activity, and make timely conclusions after that.

摘 要

口译员在当今社会的人类交往活动中发挥着不可替代的角色。然而口译自身的特点，如即席性，时效性，不可预测性，多元性等，对口译员的全面素质要求十分苛刻。口译员需具备扎实的双语甚至多语种能力，丰富的各类知识，训练有素的记忆力，以及过硬的心里素质才能够圆满出色的完成各场合的口译任务。在完成一次口译任务中，口译员需进行前期的精心,充分的准备；并在口译现场时的沉着冷静，临机应变；并在译后的及时总结反省。

1.    Introduction
1.1    Definition
“Interpreting is a form of translation in which a first and final rendition in the other language is produced on the basis of a one-time presentation of an utterance in a source language (Pochhacker 11).” Interpretation is a time-limited process, during which the interpreter listens to and recognizes the source language, understands it (catch the main idea), saves the processed information (with the help of notes), transmits the information in the target language, “recreates the construct and the context, and “repeats” it to the audiences (Venuti 67).”
