Abstract

 Film title, which is like the label of the film, can arouse the audience’s interest to see the film. A good film title can not only reflect the content of the film, but also make the room for the audience to imagine. It is not an easy task as we have thought it to be. It requires the translation be not only concise, brief, but also be faithful to the original text. Film titles should reflect the content and theme of the film, and help the film win a big box office. However, there are several different visions of translation of the same film title. There are still many problems in the translation of film titles, which deserves further researches.
 The thesis connects the film title translation with the functions of film title together. It mainly discusses the domesticating strategy in the film title translation from the functions of film title. The thesis analyses the application of domestication in the film title translation based on the four functions which are aesthetic function, informative function, expressive function and vocative function. The informative function means the film title translation should reflect some information of the film. And it tells the audience a general view of the plot. The aesthetic function is to make the film title beautiful. Besides, it would let the audience feel the beauty of their own language. The expressive function mainly creates a special atmosphere for the audience to make them feel interested in the film. The vocative function is to arouse the audience desire to enjoy the film.

如同电影的标牌，电影片名具有极强的“导视”作用。好的电影片名犹如好的书名，不仅能言简意赅地揭示剧情内涵，而且会激发观众的丰富联想，希望可以一睹为快。电影片名翻译看似简单，实际却很难译好。片名翻译中甚至出现了一名多译的现象。电影片名翻译还存在着不少问题，还有许多值得探讨的地方。
论文将电影片名翻译与片名功能相结合。主要从电影片名的功能方面研究电影片名翻译中的归化策略。信息功能指译名应反映电影信息并使观众对电影情节有个初步了解。审美功能让电影译名更加优美，同时让观众感受到本国语言的优美。表述功能营造了一种特殊的氛围，从而引起人们去欣赏影片的欲望。祈使功能主要激发了观众去看电影的欲望。
