Abstract

Sports make up an indispensable part of our daily life. Nowadays, with remarkable progress in media technology, there is abundant sports news reporting by various media. Sports news has its own peculiar lexical features, which display in its vocabulary, pronunciation, as well as the culture background.
So it is not easy for readers to obtain whole information about the news, and also hard for translators to translate sports news properly. However, it seems to be a little defective in studies about lexical translation of English sports news. Under such circumstance, Skopos theory is a good guidance to seek proper strategies to complete translation of English sports news.
The paper aims to study the lexical translation of English sports news. Under the guidance of Skopos theory, the writer points out the problems in translating the words of English sports news. The lack of language skills and professional sports knowledge, impact of intercultural communication lead to mistranslation of words of English sports news. The writer lays emphasis on the lexical translation strategies of English sports news. Two classifications of lexical translation are summarized. Each includes three specific strategies. The study will do a little contribution to lexical translation of English sports news.

体育运动渐渐成为我们日常生活中不可缺少的一部分。随着当今媒介技术的显著进步，经由各种媒体，大量的体育新闻得以报道。体育新闻有其本身的词汇特征，这些词汇特征通过体育新闻的词汇，单词发音，及其文化背景得以展示。
因此对于读者来说，想要轻松掌握体育新闻报道所涵盖的全部信息是没那么简单的，对于译者来说，想要把体育新闻的词汇翻译准确也并非易事。关于英语体育新闻翻译的研究还远远不足够的。在这种情况下，功能目的论则是一个很好的理论指导，它指导着人们寻找正确合适的翻译策略来完善英语体育新闻的翻译事业。
本文旨在研究英语体育新闻的词汇翻译。在功能目的论的指导下，首先指出了英语体育新闻词汇翻译方面存在的问题。由于语言技能和体育专业知识的缺乏，以及跨文化交际的影响，这三点因素导致了英语体育新闻词汇翻译活动容易存在误译现象。本次研究，着重强调了英语体育新闻词汇翻译的策略。作者总结了词汇翻译的两种分类，每一种分类都包括三个具体的策略。希望本次研究可以对英语体育新闻词汇翻译事业做出一点贡献。

Chapter One Introduction
With the improvement of people’s living standard nowadays, sports have become an indispensable part of life. And sports news tends to play a very important role for people to obtain information about sports, whether in English or Chinese media. However, English sports news has its own lexical features, which are very different from common words. And the lexical studies in English sports news in the past seem to be a little defective. Consequently, in today’s world, the lexical translation of English sports news is a significant both in theory and practice. Under such circumstance, it’s necessary for translators to seek new strategies to complete traditional lexical translation of English sports news. Skopos theory, which has been promoted by Hans Vermeer, holds the idea that cultural and communicational background should be taken into account in translation. It contributes to establishing an appropriate schema in the translation of English sports news.
