[摘 要]
英语以形合为主,汉语以意合为主,由此便带来了翻译中的众多相关隐、显及其恰当转换问题。本文通过梳理汉英的隐、显元素在词汇、句子、语篇层面的典型差异,分析这些差异能导致的问题,再针对这些问题探讨这些隐、显元素翻译转换的指导策略,从而帮助译者更灵活地表达原文涵义,译出完善译文,促成不同语言间表意理解和文化交流的目的。

Abstract:
It is agreed that the most important difference between the Chinese and English is that English is hypotaxis-prominent, while Chinese, parataxis-prominent. This paper discusses the differences between Chinese hypotaxis and English parataxis in translation and explains how the translation problems occur and puts relative strategies for the transformation of the implicit and explicit elements by examining in detail on levels of vocabularies, sentences and discourses, so as to express the connotation of the original texts better and have a better understanding of culture.

1. Introduction
In fact, when we do Chinese-English and English-Chinese translation, we have a consciousness of paying attention to Chinese parataxis and English hypotaxis. But when we do it, it’s difficult to deal with it. Some researchers have done some studies about the hypotaxis and parataxis in vocabularies, sentence and discourses. About these results, some are theoretical, not practical. Others are not complete. In other words, they just imply limited aspects, for example, on the vocabularies, sentences or discourses only.
This article, on one hand, uses some examples to get the theory. On the other hand, it summaries and sorts from the vocabularies, sentences and discourses. In addition, it shows some main points about the transformation and introduces some scientific strategies for the proper transformation between the parataxis and hypotaxis in translation.
2. Background and issues
Most of the present research results are focused on the theory, or a part of the affecting factors. For example, Xu Xingfang explains the Chinese parataxis and English hypotaxis in theory. This isn’t practical. Chang Junhua analyses many examples and it is concluded that these phenomena are caused by many factors(language/social culture and so on). But he just does it from the sentence level, ignoring the vocabularies and discourse.
Other studies on this issue are more or less the same. In this essay, therefore, we deal with the elements which affect the Chinese hypotaxis and English parataxis to avoid the conversion faults, from perspective of translation practice, and on the level of vocabulary, sentence, discourse, as well as the culture.
