摘要

商务英语，作为一种特殊的英语形式，被广泛地应用在国际贸易活动中。委婉语是语言使用中的一种修辞现象。人们使用委婉语和别人有礼貌的交流。人们通过使用委婉语委婉的表达自己和他人不一样的意见。商务人士习惯于在商务谈判、商务合同、商务合作等场合中使用委婉语。作为商务英语的实践者，我们最好能学习并使用委婉语。委婉语的使用有助于促进双方的合作并且做成生意。如何在商务英语中委婉地表达和如何在商务英语中翻译委婉语是我本次研究的重点。本篇论文的主要内容是委婉语的社交功能,表达方式及其翻译。我的侧重点是委婉语是商务英语中的委婉语的表达方式。我列举了6种委婉语的表达方式，依次为被动语态表达法、否定表达法、过去时态表达法、虚拟语气表达法、词汇交替表达法、疑问表达法、反义疑问表达法。而委婉语在商务英语中的翻译是我的另一个侧重点。

Abstract

Business English, as the special form of English is widely used in the international trade activity. Euphemism is one of the rhetoric phenomenons of language. People use euphemisms to communicate with others in a polite way. People can express their different ideas in an appropriate way by using euphemisms. Businessmen are used to using euphemisms in many business activities such as business negotiation, business contract, business cooperation and so on. As a practitioner of Business English, we’d better to learn how to use euphemisms for it is beneficial for us to improving the cooperation and concluding the deal. How to use euphemisms and how to translate them are the key points in my study. My paper focuses on the communicative functions, expressions and translation of euphemisms. The expression of euphemisms in Business English is my priority. I list six ways of euphemistic expressions, they are the using of passive voice, the using of negation, the using of past tense, the using of subjunctive mood, the using of lexical substitution, the using of question and the using of tag question. My another priority is the translation of euphemisms in Business English.

1  Introduction
Nowadays, economic globalization is the international theme. With the establishment of market economy in our country, we have more and more chances to do business with foreign countries. Naturally, it is necessary for businessmen to use euphemisms to promote their goods and negotiate with their potential clients if they want to do business with those foreign clients successfully. Euphemism is an very important part in Business English. As Chen Xueliang said, euphemism is used widely in business. Euphemism has penetrated into each part of international business, from the establishment of business, inquiry, offer, counter—offer to shipment, insurance, complaint and so on. Euphemism is regarded as the lubricant in human beings' social communication. It's an effective language form for human beings to pursue an ideal goal in their business.
