Abstract:
Tang Poetry is a treasure in Chinese literature history, the wide use of rhetoric is an important reason that makes Tang Poetry attractive, allusion in particular. With the rapid development of globalization, more and more foreign people tend to get acquaintance of this literature style. However, to those people who don’t have an all-round knowledge of Chinese culture, it is difficult to understand the culture-loaded allusions correctly. Therefore, how to translate the allusions in Tang Poetry becomes the task in academic world.
This paper selects equal poems translated by Xu Yuanchong and Sun Dayu respectively as research subject. The allusions in the original poems are picked out manually and classified into three categories according to their different sources for further comparison and analysis on the translation strategies adopted by the two translators. After a thorough analysis, this research indicates that when translating allusions related to traditional Chinese culture the two translators have different tendencies of translation strategy--Xu Yuanchong prefers to reserve the feature of original language, while Sun Dayu is inclined to express the meaning to foreign readers.

Introduction
Tang dynasty is a period of great prosperity during the feudal society in China. Stabled political situation developed economy and prosperous culture, all those provided favorable condition for creating Tang Poetry. Poets gathered quintessence from The Book of Songs, Chu Ci, Yue Fu, Poetry in Pre-Tang Style and Folk songs and explored inspiration from rhymed prose, music, painting and other forms of art. Tang Poetry is a literature style which reached one of the highest peaks of Chinese literature and has become one of the jewels in the history of literature. The wide use of rhetoric is an important reason that makes Tang Poetry attractive, allusion in particular. Poets use least words to express abundant meaning and quote from the stories or sayings of previous time in their poems. Through those lines, readers can make full use of imagination to grasp the image and appreciate the mood to create poetry.
