Abstract:

Translation, which involves translating meaning, has been believed to take place between languages for centuries. Language, as a social phenomenon, is only used in a specific environment, that is, a context in a certain society. Context plays an important part in language study and translation for it is hard to define the meaning of an utterance without consideration of the context in which it is used.
    Translation cannot be only regarded as a transformation of languages in linguistic symbol or merely of information in communication. Context has a close tie with comprehension of meaning and language use, so to discuss the influence of context in literary translation is of great significance.
The author in the first place traces back the researches on context both at home and abroad and introduces the definition and the classification of context, then the author makes a specific study of the features and functions of context in language use. Through analyzing various literary translation examples in Pride and Prejudice, the author clearly reinforces context influences on the translation’s understanding process. Based on a close observation of context functions, the author tentatively intends to prove its importance in widening the scope of translation study and setting up a new angle in translation study and more attention to the studies on context in translation are drawn.

摘要：

数百年来，人们一直认为翻译是在不同语言之间进行的意义翻译。语言作为一种社会现象，只能在特定社会的特定环境即语境里使用。语境可以简单地描述为语言利用的环境或情境。语境在语言的研究和翻译中起着非常重要的作用。离开了话语的使用语境，就很难确定话语的意义。
    翻译不仅仅是语言符号之间或是交际中信息的转换。语境与意义及语言的运用有着密切的联系，因此，在文学翻译研究问题中讨论语境的影响是十分重要的。
    作者在文章的开头讨论了国内外学者对语境的研究。作者的论述始于语境的定义与分类，进而对语境的特征与功能进行探讨。通过《傲慢与偏见》中大量的文学翻译实例的分析，作者证实了语境影响了翻译的理解过程。通过证实语境分析在文学翻译过程中的影响，本文旨在扩大翻译理论研究的范围，开辟翻译理论研究的新视角,从而唤起在翻译理论研究中对语境研究的进一步关注。
