Abstract:
The film has been receiving more and more attention, as we all know, and it is one of the most influential media in modern society. Excellent rendering of subtitle can not only attract much more audience, but also boost the communication and development among different cultures. This paper will take the subtitle translation of the Pacific Rim as an example to analyze the translation approaches, and hope to be helpful to the improvement of subtitle translation.

如今电影已经越来越受到人们的关注了,众所周知,这是当今社会最有影响的媒体形式之一。好的字幕翻译不仅能够吸引更多的观众,还能促进不同文化之间的交流与发展。本文将会以《环太平洋》的字幕翻译为例,分析翻译方法,希望能对提高字幕翻译水平有所帮助。

Introduction
In recent years, the subtitle translation of films have paid too much attention to the controlling of the source text. Besides, the subtitle translation of films also lay too much emphasis on translator's subjectivity and the utilitarian of translation. Translators often blindly pursue catering to the general public of so as to overuse network catchwords , which makes the subtitle translation of films can not stand the test of time. Taking the subtitle translation of Pacific Rim as an example, this paper analyzes the approaches to subtitle translation, discusses the different basic rules used in the subtitle translation and established the right direction for translators in the process of translation.
1. Literature Review
With the rapidly development of global market of movies, the subtitle translation plays a significant role in movies. As Ma zhengqi said, if the subtitle is more similar to the language that we use everyday then audience can understand the contents of movies better. However, if translators pursue the similarity blindly and abandon the background information, cultural difference, meanings of directors. It will definitely affect the view experience of audience and lost the original intention that the movie wants to express. This is not only a loss of a good movie, but also a loss to those audience who paid money.
