Abstract:

EST is a branch of ESP, which uses a lot of long sentences for the purpose of integrity, conciseness and logic. The study mainly discusses about the strategies of translation of long sentences in EST, and proposes that the result of the study can instruct in the translation of the long sentences. The present paper briefly introduces the origin and characteristics of EST. And it summarizes the strategies of translation, such as the Sequential-order Translation & Reversed-order Translation, The Recasting Translation and The Interpolation Translation by analyzing the syntax rule of Chinese and English and combining with the long sentences from the domestic and foreign science and technology English magazines or websites as example.

摘 要：

科技英语作为专门用途英语的一种，在表达中为了句子的完整性，严谨性，逻辑性而使用很多长句。本研究拟探讨科技英语中的长句翻译，分析并总结其主要翻译策略。本文就科技英语作为专门用途英语的一种，论述了专门英语的分类，简述专门用途英语与通用英语的区别。对科技英语的由来和特征等进行了简单介绍，通过对中英语法进行分析，并结合国内外科技英语杂志或网站上的长句的英译汉的句子为例，对科技英语长句翻译策略，如分切法、插入法、重组法进行总结。通过研究的总结，完善译者在翻译这类句子或者文章时的技巧和方法。

Introduction
In the early 1960s, many people in China wanted to master English as a communication tool as soon as possible so that they could obtain knowledge about the advanced science and technology in the developed western countries. So they used the traditional teaching methods by learning the general English and the British and American literature. However, they found that these methods were very time-consuming and could not meet their real need. Because of that, many teachers began to find the differences in the syntax and morphology between the general English and science articles. Then they summarized its regularity and made sure that the students could acquire these characteristics, so the “ESP” emerges as the times require. ESP has many categories, such as EAP, EOP, and EST. So EST is a branch of ESP, and it will be discussed in this paper. From 2003-2012, the research topics of the translation of EST in our country include the following points: ①The theoretical study of science and technology translation; ②Principles and Practices of science and technology translation; ③The stylistic features of science and technology translation; ④The teaching research of the translation in EST. Therefore, the study of EST is very extensive and diversified.
