Abstract
 
With the prosperity of global film and TV industry, all kinds of English films gradually dominate the Chinese market. And there is a basic and special way to translate the English subtitles, considering the characteristics of English subtitles and the differences between English culture and Chinese culture. Translation of English subtitles is an important branch of English translation. In the field of English subtitles translation, domestication and Foreignization are two kinds of vital methods mainly to deal with the different language forms and distinct cultural background. They are the extension of literal translation and free translation, which have a positive effect on English subtitles translation. This thesis introduces the definition and characteristics of subtitles and the theory of domestication and Foreignization, takes the NIKITA as example to analyze the applications of domestication and Foreignization in the translation of English subtitles.

摘要
 
随着全球影视业的繁荣，各种欧美大片美剧英剧等逐渐在中国市场占据重要地位，对于英文字幕翻译的研究也形成了特有的一种方式。结合字幕本身的特点以及中英文化的差异是英文影视作品翻译的基本途径。英文字幕的翻译是英文翻译的重要一支。在英文字幕翻译领域，归化与异化是两种处理不同的语言形式与相异的文化背景的重要策略。并且归化与异化的概念也是直译与意译概念的延伸，它们对于英文字幕的翻译有着积极作用。这篇论文通过介绍字幕的定义特征及异化归化理论，具体以美剧《NIKITA》为例，分析归化与异化在英文字幕的翻译中的应用。
