Abstract

Aesthetics is a subject studying beauty and people’s feeling about beauty, while translation aesthetics is a combination of translation studies and aesthetics. Translation aesthetics theory serves as an important approach in quest of essay translation both in theory and practice. As a result, based on the translation aesthetics theory proposed by Professor Liu Miqing，the author of this paper attempts to make a detailed analysis on the Selected Modern Chinese Essays 1 rendered into English by Professor Zhang Peiji. From the perspectives of aesthetic object and aesthetic representation, the author makes efforts to conduct a relatively thorough study on how the translated essays represent the aesthetic values of the source text from the phonetic level, lexical level and syntactic level. That is how good essays translation should represent all kinds of original aesthetic values.

摘要

美学是研究美以及人对美的感受的一门学科，然而翻译美学则是美学与翻译研究的结合。运用翻译美学理论探索散文翻译，无论是从理论上还是实践上都有一定的借鉴意义。有鉴于此，本文作者将拟运用刘宓庆教授提出的翻译美学理论研究张培基教授翻译的《英译中国现代散文选（一）》，对张译本中的散文主要从翻译美学理论中的美学客体、美学再现的角度，从语音、词汇、文化等各个层面，进行细致分析。通过分析，可以看出好的散文译文一定要尽可能的再现原文的各种美学价值。
