摘  要

英语委婉语不仅普遍出现在我们的日常交流中，也时常出现在商务英语翻译中。我们可以翻阅词典而得知，委婉语的含义是一种采用较委婉不冒犯他人的说话方式来表达自己的意思，来促成一次顺利的谈话。谈到英语委婉语，我们总是关注它在语言环境中所体现的礼貌原则等。委婉语在讲英语的国家中孕育而生，因为其独有且特别的形成、语用功能等其他特性。通过对这些领域进行全面分析，笔者尝试把相关知识应用到商务英语翻译领域中。商务谈判中经常会出现委婉语，这一现象要求我们正确理解它的功能和使用方法。如果缺乏委婉语的相应知识，谈判者便无法理解说话者的深意。对于商务英语翻译的译者，他们更需要在商务谈判或信函中比较中英两个版本委婉语的语用功能。只有这样，他们才能够更好地在商务交流中完成翻译工作。根据英语委婉语的研究，本文将继续深入探讨，从词汇的应用，在商务英语翻译中英语委婉语的语境中进行研究，并根据分析结果，提出了一些建议，从而使商务交流更加顺利，促成更多国际贸易。

Abstract

English euphemism is not only very popular in our daily communication, but also in Business English Translation. We can know from the dictionaries that it means a way of speaking good and indirect words to avoid offending others and making a smooth communication. When it comes to English euphemism, we always pay attention to the principle of politeness and so on in communicative environment. English euphemism shows up in a cultural background in English countries, so it has its unique formation, pragmatic functions and other features. By analyzing multiple aspects, the author will try to apply the relevant knowledge to the fields of business English translation. Euphemism often appears in the business negotiation, which requires a appropriate comprehension of its usage and functions. If the relevant knowledge of euphemism is lacking, the negotiators have no sense of the deep implication by the speaker. As for business English translators, they need to compare different pragmatic functions between English and Chinese versions. Only in this way can they do better translating work in business communication. Based on the previous studies of English euphemism expression in business English translation, this paper will continue with the discussion in a further way, and do research on the aspects of vocabulary and context to know the application of euphemism expression in business English translation. Then some suggestions will be given according to the results of analyzing to make business communication and contribute to more international trades.
