摘  要

近年来，科技翻译涉及的范围越来越广，难度也逐渐加深, 因而要求译者有更专业的能力才能获得更优秀的译文。科技翻译本身具有很多鲜明的特点，与其他翻译领域截然不同。本论文首先简要回顾了中西方学者对科技翻译的研究情况，接着主要通过研究不同类产品英译说明书中体现的语言特点，包括词汇和句法上的特点，进而分析和探讨科技翻译的主要策略和方法。最后，本论文试图总结科技翻译的主要特点，即语言简洁严谨、运用专业术语、无时态变化、多用被动态和长句，并提出其中的限制因素和改进方法，从而为译者补充相关知识，提供更全面的翻译方法。

Abstract

Recent years, scientific translation ranges over wider fields with a deeper degree of difficulty, which attracts more translators to pursue it as their careers. Therefore, translating articles or documents of scientific translation requires translators having more professional competences for more excellent versions of scientific translation. Actually, compared with other translation fields, scientific translation itself has many distinct features and is totally different from them. First of all, this thesis makes a brief review on major foreign and domestic scholars’ researches on scientific translation. Then it studies the main language characteristics of different kinds of product specifications from Chinese to English, including analyzing those in the aspects of lexical and syntax features in detail with some specific examples. According to the above content, it further generalizes the major features of scientific translation combining with the above analysis. In addition, it analyzes and discusses the main translation tactics and methods about scientific translation. At last, according to the analysis of product specifications’ characteristics, it tries to draw a systematic conclusion of the major features of scientific translation as follows. Language is accurate and concise; logic is strict; terminologies, passive voice and long sentences are frequently used without change of tenses. What’s more, it proposes some limited factors and improving ways of studying scientific translation, which complements related knowledge and provides more comprehensive approaches for translators.
