摘  要

《了不起的盖茨比》是美国小说家菲斯杰拉德的代表作之一，是他全世界范围内影响最为广大最为深远的一部作品，小说以纽约及长岛为故事的发生背景，以剧中人物尼克的叙述来展开故事，主要描写了20世纪20年代，美国中上层阶级的爱恨故事。《了不起的盖茨比》自译入中国，获得了广大读者的喜爱。市场上较为常见的为巫宁坤和姚乃强的译本。本文以奈达的功能对等为理论基础，从词汇选择、句子组织、场景设置和对话呈现等方面对比巫译和姚译版本。进而探讨功能对等理论在翻译时是否存在瑕疵与不足以及如何改进与完善。

Abstract

The Great Gatsby is one of the representative works of the American novelist Fitzgerald. It has gained countless readers and translators all around the world.And it has been loved by the majority of the readers and translators over worldwide. The scene of the novel is set in New York and Long Island. Started with the narration of Nick, who is the hero of the novel, the novel describes the love story of upper-class in America in the twentieth century. Since it has been translated into Chinese, this novel is appreciated by a lot of Chinese readers. At present, two versions are popular in Chinese market that are Wu Ningkun’s version and Yao Naiqiang’s version. This thesis based on Nida’s functional equivalence theory, demonstrates the difference between the two versions from the selection of words, the organization of sentences, the setting of the scene and the presentation of dialogue.Every theory has its blemish, and functional equivalence theory is no exception, which requires continuous improvements.
