Abstract
With the frequent cultural exchanges between the East and the West and the implement of China's opening up policy, the work of English interpretation of TCM has been put on agenda, and continuously intensified. However, some problems are still popping up during the translation process which not only puzzles the translators a lot but also impedes the spread of the TCM. This essay is focusing on the problems in the vocabulary translation and will analyze the cause for the problems from the perspective of cultural vacancy and further, offer feasible principles and methods for the translator's reference, so as to push the work to a new high. The scientific, ethnic, concise and stipulated principles are proposed based on the study of previous scholars and are of great importance to the translation process. Some translation methods are also suggested in this essay from the perspective of cultural vacancy.

中医是一门特殊的科学学科，作为我国传统医学，中医独特的理论体系和治疗方式都无可匹敌。在现代，中医和西医逐渐有互为辅助的趋势。近几年，随着中国对外开放工作的深化，中医的对外翻译工作也受到了重视。然而，目前中医翻译却仍然存在着许多不足之处，仅词汇方面就表现为：译名过于混乱，译名过于冗长赘余，不知译名所云等问题。本文认为造成问题的其中一个重要原因是忽略了中医词汇英译中的文化空缺现象。同时本文结合了翻译前辈的宝贵经验提出了中医词汇应遵循的四项原则，科学性，民族性，简洁性和对应性，并借鉴翻译理论直译，意译，拼音和混拼等简化翻译，提出中医词汇英译可采用的方法，以期抛砖引玉。

Traditional Chinese Medicine (known as TCM ) is a scientific subject and has been increasingly renowned in the world with its unique theoretical system and treating methods. As the globalization proceeds, it has become an irresistible trend that the TCM and Western treatment integrate and combine to function in the world. In recent years, TCM has attracted increasing attention of the international medical field, and its translation work has also gained further development.
