Abstract
With the development of the city internationalized, the management of city should also keep up with the international level, as part of the city culture, English public signs are very important in city management. This paper will analyze some pragmatics errors existing in English public signs, and then propose some advices on use proper English public signs according to public signs’ four kinds of functions in different contexts of words which are different occasions. Further probe the future development trend of English public signs and present how English public signs reflect humanization level or specialty in a city.

随着中国城市走上国际化道路，城市管理也需要跟上国际潮流。作为城市文化的一部分，英译公示语在城市管理中发挥着重要的作用。本文将分析英译公示语中现存的一些语用失误，且提出一些关于在不同的场所如何选用合适恰当的和正确功能的公示语，公示语具备四种功能，不同的场合需要不同功能的公示语以发挥公示语最大的传达信息效果。还将进一步探讨英译公示语未来的发展趋势，体现公示语能够展现一个城市的人性化程度及城市发展中所生成的特点。

Globalization has brought varieties of opportunity for China to get closer to the outside world. Nowadays China has a fast-growing economy, and every city in china want to attract foreign investment or multinational corporations to relocate in it, to promote the local economy and provide more jobs for the local people. At the same time, globalization has also brought groups of foreign people coming to china to travel, invest, learn and work. English public signs in public facilities, transportation roads, traveling introduction marks, malls, restaurants, hotels and other places they would go to can also make them better know a city’s lifestyle, and history lifestyle, be accustomed to living in the city sooner and blend into the local groups more quickly and easily. English public signs can also show directly to foreigners the city’s hospitality and warm welcome. In a word, public signs, being part of the city appearance, can be called the silent administrator in the city administration and will help building the city more suitable for foreigners to investigate and live. And thus creating a set of canonical and normative English public signs is necessary in city administration.
