Translation companies can be found everywhere in China, however, the number of translators is rather limited. Moreover, these translation companied are operated under a family or workshop pattern. The quality of these translations varies and differs. A majority of translators have no experience and pursue the quantity over quality, centering on gaining benefits. In the class, the English teacher always tells us that translation is an art. The fact is that nowadays many people are treating translation as an object exchangeable for financial gains. They have even abandoned the artistic essence in the translation process. As a result, this paper endeavors to conduct detailed analysis toward Yang’s The Dream of the Red Mansions based on his translation work, translation style while bearing in mind the problems occur in translation.
