Abstract
This study applies the textual analysis of the foreign affairs interpreting on two levels: English to Chinese; Chinese to English on the basis of the material of foreign affair interpreting as its corpus. Firstly, it overviews the previous research in the semantic prosody to spot its role in the process of interpreting to attempt to find the mistakes and errors appearing in the interpreting of foreign affairs which are impacted by the semantic prosody. Then, associating with the hypothesis, it makes an analysis in the causality between them. Locally, it illustrates its points with the analysis of the specific cases occurring in the foreign affairs interpreting. The paper therefore intends to clarify the following issues: the existence of the causality between the semantic prosody and the mistakes and errors in the foreign affair interpreting; in the process of interpreting, both sides will be affected by the semantic prosody, while the levels of this influence are different; the way the translators employ to avoid this kind of effect. The paper, on the basis of analysis of qualities, use specific examples collected to support its conclusions.

全文主要运用了篇章分析，选取外事翻译为语料，从中文至英文和英文至中文的转换两方面对外事翻译进行分析。首先，研习前人对语义韵律的研究，找到其对于翻译法的影响，试着找到外事翻译中出现的与语义韵律有关的失误及错误，再提出假设，并结合假设，尝试分析找到两者的因果关系。接着，对于外事翻译场合中话论替换时中译英和英译中的转换进行个体的立案分析。通过以上分析，文章旨在阐明一下几个问题：假设语义韵律对于外事翻译中的失误和错误是有因果关系的；在翻译过程中，中方和外方都会受语义韵律的影响，但程度有差异，反映出来的实际效果也有不同；译员是否能够规避这种语义韵律的影响。文章在定性的分析基础上，收集整理出一定量的实例个案，成为上述结论的有力佐证。

1    Introduction
1.1 Key Concepts
Sometimes, the collocations of a word form a semantic class which can be characterized in terms of attitudinal meaning. This is roughly referred to as semantic prosody, although, as the following definitions show, different authors focus on different aspects of this phenomenon:
Semantic prosody is the “consistent aura of meaning with which a form is imbued by its collocations”;
“It is becoming increasingly well documented that words may habitually collocate with other words from a definable semantic set” ;
Semantic prosody is “the spreading of connotational coloring beyond single word boundaries” ;
Semantic prosody is best investigated initially through eyeball inspection of KWIC concordances of the word(s) in question, but once you think you have identified prosody, a more detailed, quantitative assessment is useful.
