摘要

现代翻译理论认为，翻译是一种不同语言间信息传递的过程，是用目标语翻译来传递信息以使不懂源语言的人也能获得同样的信息和感受的过程。从中我们可以得出只要存在不同的语言，只要不同语言的群体之间存在交际活动，就存在翻译活动。翻译是一种跨文化活动。因为翻译包括着不同的语言及文化，读者怎样判别译作的好坏？翻译的标准是什么？这是翻译界一个复杂的课题。
人们普遍认为诗歌的翻译是非常困难的，尤其是中文诗歌的英译。本篇论文致力于得出一些诗歌翻译的战略方法以及一些有待解决的困难之处。
本篇论文中，作者首先讲述了关于诗歌与诗歌翻译的背景知识。接下来在参考有关文献及书籍的情况下，总结出三条诗歌英译战略。论文最后列出了五条避免不了的问题有待日后学术研究得以解决。
总之，中文诗歌可以英译，尽管难度较大。选择恰当合理的方法，我们就能顺利流畅地翻译诗歌。

Abstract

The modern translation theory believes that translation is the transmission of the message between different languages. It is the process of using the target language to deliver the information of the original language so that those people who can not understand the original language can gain the same idea and feeling. From this we can see that as long as there are different languages, as long as communication exists between groups speaking different languages, there would be translation activities. Translation is a kind of cross-culture activity. Since translation involves different languages and different culture, how can readers judge the translated works, or what are the criteria for translation? It is a controversial topic in the translation field.
It is widely believed that poem translation is quite difficult especially translating Chinese poems into English. This thesis aims at working out some strategies useful in the poem translation and also generalizing some problems hard to solve.
In this thesis, the author first talks about some basic information about poems and poem translation. And then three strategies are summed up after referring to some books and papers. At last some inevitable problems are listed which call for our further study.
All in all, Chinese poems can be translated into English although it is difficult. Using the right and proper strategy we can have the poems translated successfully and smoothly.
