摘要

    主位推进模式是系统功能语法中的重要概念，同时也是篇章结构分析的重要手段。由于英汉语篇中句子的主位结构存在较大的差异，因此主位推进模式在英汉语篇的翻译中发挥重要作用。本文首先介绍了主位、述位以及主位推进模式的相关概念。其次分析了英汉两种语言的主位推进模式。然后从主位推进模式的角度分析《简爱》两种译本的差异。得出，在英汉翻译的过程中，一方面，为了使译文与原文形神皆似，译文需要以某种适宜的方式再现原文的主位推进模式；另一方面，由于英汉两种语言之间存在差异性，译文需要对原文的主位推进模式进行适当的调整，以符合目标语的习惯和语篇连贯。

Abstract

Thematic progression is an important concept in systematic function grammar, and also a critical means of text structure analysis. Due to the differences in thematic structure between English and Chinese text, thematic progression plays an important role in English-Chinese translation. This paper firstly gives a brief introduction of theme, rheme and thematic progression models. Then, the writer analyzes thematic progression models of English and Chinese. From the perspective of thematic progression, the writer gets the differences between two translated versions of Jane Eyre and concludes that, in the process of English-Chinese translation, on the one hand, the translation should retain the thematic progression model of the original in order to keep the form and spirit of the original; on the other hand, the translation should change the thematic progression of the original to fit the feature of the target language and make the text coherent.

1. Introduction
Nowadays, many domestic and foreign scholars have devoted to the research of the combination between translation and Halliday’s (2000) functional linguistics. Based on the results of predecessors, the writer compares the differences between two translated versions of Jane Eyre, a famous novel written by Charlotte Bronte, from the perspective of thematic progression. One of the translated version is from Song Zhaolin (2007), referred as version 1, while version 2 comes from Zhu Qingying (2012). The aim of the study is to explore what the differences of thematic progression in English-Chinese translation, how to make the translation and the original similar in form and meaning, and how to put each small clause together and realize the cohesion and coherence of a discourse through adjusting the thematic structure. The writer hopes that this article can offer some reference for English- Chinese translation practice.
