摘 要
通过本专业四六级考试的结果统计,大学生在英语写作的部分中,普遍得分较低。由此可见,提高写作能力是我们需解决的问题。本文首先分析了导致写作能力低的原因。其次分点分析了英语阅读与写作的关系。本文主要论述通过英语阅读来提高英语写作能力的七个方法:通过阅读,为写作储存材料,从而提高英语写作能力;通过阅读,提高写作技能,从而提高英语写作能力;通过阅读,培养想象力和语感,从而提高写作能力;通过阅读,积累词汇量,从而提高写作能力;通过阅读,多写英语摘要,从而提高写作能力;通过阅读,多进行句子整合练习,从而提高英语写作能力;通过阅读,培养阅读兴趣,从而提高英语写作能力。简要叙述了阅读对英语写作能力的提高的重要性,怎样积累词汇,怎样培养语感。总之,大学生通过大量阅读来提高英语写作需要长时间的训练,并非一朝一夕的事情。

Abstract
At present, the students’ English writing ability is low according to the recent survey about CET4 and CET6. Therefore, how to improve writing ability will become the problem which must be solved by education system. Social practice tells the students: reading is a comprehensive skill, it can store up a wealth of material for writing, it can cultivate writing skills, and it can accumulate vocabulary. It can cultivate ideation and developing a sense of language to improve English writing skills. First of all, this passage describes the relationships between reading and writing: Interdependence; Interaction; promoting each other and improving together. The passage mainly describes the seven methods of improving English writing ability through English reading. First, we can store up a wealth of material through reading. Second, we can cultivate writing skills through reading. Third, we can cultivate ideation and developing a sense of language through reading. Fourth, we can accumulate vocabulary through reading. Fifth, we can write briefs through reading. Sixth, we can do Sentence-combining Exercises through reading. Seventh, we can stimulate interest through reading. Briefly, the passage discusses about the importance of reading to improve the writing ability, it discusses about how to accumulate vocabulary and how to cultivate the language sense. Anyhow, college students through reading to improve English writing ability need a long time of training, not a short time. So college students should know the method of improving English writing ability clearly and then take real action quickly.

1 Introduction
Research and investigation in English field indicate that writing competence of college English majors is at a relatively low level. The fact has roused great concern from many language researchers and language teachers who focus on how to improve learners’ writing competence. Based on a large number of empirical studies and theoretical researches, researchers have drawn the conclusion that in both L. l and L.2 learning process, the interaction between reading and writing together work on the development of the whole process of language learning, that reading serves as models of good writing, and even more important, serves as sources of information and ideas that stimulate thinking, discussion, and responses, which are essential foundations of writing. In short, reading has an important role to play in writing classroom. However, the situation at present in college English classroom is far from satisfactory. Because of various restrictions, the relationship between reading and writing is not attached deserved importance to and literature readings, though as models of language, is not properly used in college English class.
