摘 要
随着经济全球化和中国经济的快速发展,聘请外籍教师进行大学英语教学成为热门话题。外教已成为教育资源重要的一部分,在中国大学的英语教学中起着重要的作用。外教与中国英语教师相比有很多突出的优点,但并不是所有外教的教学水平都令人满意,缺点也很明显,包括缺乏课堂教学的系统性、目的性等等。提高课堂教学的有效性最关键的是要充分利用外教资源。因此,在口语和跨文化课中应该采用中西教师合作的教学方式。此外要加强外籍教师的职前培训和常规教学管理以及促进外籍教师和中国英语教师的交流。一些研究人员并没有对外教的教学特点作系统性的阐述。本文在外教英语教学的特点上提供了新思路,在加强外教的管理上开拓了新视角。

Abstract
With the globalization and the rapid development of Chinese economy,the employment of foreign teachers has become a hot topic. It seems that foreign teachers play a vital role in English teaching at the Chinese university. Native English-speaking teachers have some prominent advantages than non-native English-speaking teachers. However, not all foreign teachers’ actual teaching effectiveness is satisfactory. Some disadvantages are obvious, including lack of systematic teaching, lack of scientific and standard management, and so on. It seems that various ways of cooperative teaching are worth trying and the foreign teachers are more capable of taking the oral class and culture classes, especially to strengthen foreign teachers’ pre-service training, foreign teachers’ conventional teaching management and communication and cooperation between foreign teachers and Chinese teachers. Some researchers don’t indicate what are the characteristics and disadvantages of foreign teachers on English teaching at the university in China systematically. With the literature method, observation method and comparative method, this thesis is expected to offer a new insight into the advantages and disadvantages of foreign teachers on English teaching at the university in China and offer a new perspective on how to improve the hiring and management of foreign teachers.

1 Introduction
1.1 Purpose of the thesis
With the development of higher education internationalization, a group of teachers in colleges and universities have grown up, and gradually become important in regular institutions of higher education of teachers. Recently, the employment of foreign teachers, who look upon English as their native or second language, is a systematic project in the colleges and universities, the purpose of which is to improve their level of English teaching. Consequently, foreign teachers have become a significant of educational resources and play a vital role in English teaching at the university in China. By the end of 2011, the Chinese government has started the “one thousand native English-speaking people plan”, aimed at the next 10 years to attract as many as 1000 foreign scholars and entrepreneurs, to promote research and innovation.
