摘  要

语言教学的最终目的是进行有效的交流。在教学中，能够提高中学生口语水平的任何形式和手段都是必须的。通过中学生英语口语训练，学生的口语能力能够有效地得到提升。然而，传统的英语教学则重视英语语法训练而忽视了口语能力的重要性，从而使学生无法进行有效的交流。如何才能有效地提高学生学习英语的兴趣或如何运用有效的教学法使学生更好地接受知识信息是许多学者研究的重点。肢体语言是一门教学艺术，它有其自身的特点、原则与形式。口语教学中使用肢体语言可以达到言语所不能表达的效果。肢体语言种类丰富，生动形象，可以作为提高英语教学水平的有效手段之一。本文作者通过对中学英语口语课堂教学中使用肢体语言与传统课堂教学的对比，根据调查问卷做深入研究，深刻分析了肢体语言在中学生英语口语教学中的重要性，并得出结论：肢体语言对提高学生学习兴趣，树立信心和加深师生互动具有促进作用，同时在促进交际双方互相理解方面发挥重要作用。

Abstract

The key function of language teaching is to make English learners be capable of communicating. In teaching practice, it is neccessary to use any kind of forms and ways to improve students’ oral English. Oral English can be improved effectively through oral language exercises. However, the traditional English teaching pays more attention to English grammar than oral English. Students can not achieve a fluent and efficient discourse because of that. How to cultivate students’ interest in English learning effectively, as well as how to make students absorb knowledge through efficient teaching methods is the core of the study. Body language is a kind of teaching art. It has its own unique characteristics, principles and forms. Body language can be powerful when verbal language can not work. It can be one of the effective approaches to improving oral English teaching because body language has its own characteristics of variety and image. In this paper, the writer makes a comparison of English teaching in class with body langugae and that in traditional ways. Through questionnaire survey research, the writer studies and analyzes the significance in oral English teaching in high school. Through research the writer of this paper makes the conclusion that body language makes a great contribution to motivating students, making them boost confidence and firmly strengthen ing the relationship between teachers and students. At the same time, body language can have the advantage in understanding in the communication.

1 Introduction
1.1 Brief introduction of body language
Nonverbal Communication includes body languages and such things that can not be perceived by vocally. For example, people’s individual cultural background, educational background, some other factors can have a great influnce on face-to-face communication. In order to explain or convey correct and appropriate feelings or emotions, nonverbal languages play a significant role. Nonverbal languages which can be called as nonverbal language cues have forms especially used in language teaching and learning classroom including kinesics, facial expressions, oculesics, haptics, proxemics, paralanguage, chronemics, physical appearance, olfactics, environmental factors etc.
