摘 要
中学生在长期英语学习之后仍然在听力和口语方面有困难,因此需要探索一种新的教学方法。情境教学法是教师创设生动情境的一种方法,案例证明它在教学中很有效。文章将情境教学方法和传统的教学方法进行对比,证明前者的优点;论文采用比较法、引用法和分析法,将重点论述在英语听说课堂中有效创设情境的方法,涉及多媒体、角色扮演、实物和想象;并阐述教师应该以学生为中心,明确教学目标,创设的情境应与学生的生活相关。论文旨在通过创设有效的情境,提高学生的听力和口语水平。

Abstract
Many middle school students still have difficulty in listening and speaking even though they spend much time on learning English every day. Thus new teaching approach needs to be explored. Situational language teaching is a teaching method that teachers create a vivid situation, which has been proved to be very effective in teaching. The thesis makes a comparison between that method and the traditional methods of teaching, listing some advantages of the former. And this essay adopts the comparative method, inductive method and literature analysis. It put great emphasis on the effective methods of situational teaching in the English listening and speaking class, containing the multimedia, role-play, the real object and imagination. And the thesis points out that the teachers should take students as center and be clear about the teaching goals. What is more, the situation should be relevant to students’ life. This thesis aims to promote students’ listening and speaking ability through effective situation.

1 Introduction
This paper has a study of the basic knowledge of situational language teaching. Then, it pays much attention to the effective ways of creating a situation, which contains the multimedia, role-play, the real object and imagination. And the thesis points out three aspects that teachers should pay attention to. This chapter gives the background information and organization of this thesis.
1.1 Background Information
Nowadays English plays a significant role in our daily life and no one can ignore that fact. Hence many Chinese parents are crazy about sending their children to all kinds of training organizations to learn English or employing tutors to teach their children. A majority of children are busy learning English every day. However, many students still need to improve their English level, especially in speaking and listening. Although some students do well in the exam, many of them have difficulty applying English into life. When they communicate with foreigners, they often find it tough to apprehend these people’s ideas and express their opinions.
