Abstract
This study probed into the relationship between learner autonomy and self-efficacy of English major students. The data collected from the questionnaire delivered to 133 English major students show that students’ sense of self-efficacy is in proportion to the time they spend on study, and students with high level of self-efficacy are more likely to get satisfactory results in their autonomous learning. Besides, students’ sense of self-efficacy plays an important role in the process of students’ deciding their learning plan and can help students study more efficiently. However, the data also show that no matter a sophomore or a senior, most students who have filled out this questionnaire have difficulties in monitoring and evaluating their own studies. What’s more, most students are unable to deal with negative emotions which are developed in the learning process with ease.

摘 要
本研究运用问卷收集了XX大学英语专业学生的自我效能感与其自主学习能力现状的信息,了解了英语专业学生英语自主学习过程中的学习特点以及自我效能感带来的影响,并对这两者之间的关系进行了分析。本研究发现,英语学习者的学习时间长短与其自我效能感程度成正比,认为自己具有自我效能感的学生在进行自主学习的过程中往往能够取得更令其满意的结果。自我效能感在学生们制定自主学习计划过程中有着重要的影响,并且有助于学生准确有效地进行自主学习。本研究还发现,未接受过系统性自我效能感和自主学习相关方面学习的学生,在反省、监督自己的学习这两方面做的不甚理想,另外,学生目前也做不到自如应对学习过程中产生的焦虑、紧张等负面情绪。

1 Introduction
Autonomous learning is an alternative to the traditional learning model, and nowadays the traditional teacher-dominating in-classroom learning has been gradually replaced by students’ carrying out learning activities on their own. Part of teachers’ roles in students’ learning process is gradually being substituted by students’ own learning and researching. For example, students can try to learn a text by themselves first instead of studying it with teachers from the very beginning to the end of the article. Therefore, there’s no doubt that learning “how to learn” has become important to all the students, especially to college students. In the course of becoming autonomous learners, self-efficacy is a vital factor, which will influence the students’ performance and achievement in their studies.
