摘要:
随着社会发展,跨文化交际活动日益频繁。跨文化交际能力正成为大学生今后职业生涯中不可缺少的素质之一。然而大学生的跨文化交际能力普遍比较薄弱。本文以语言、文化、跨文化交际的理论研究以及它们之间的关系为理论基础,就如何在大学英语教学中运用多种方式来培养和提高大学生跨文化交际能力进行了探索,从而推动大学英语教学的发展。

Abstract:
With the development of society,intercultural communicative activities are becoming more and more frequent. Intercultural communicative competence becomes one of the most important qualities of students’ working career. However, the weak ability of communicating between different cultures exists among college students now. Based on the theoretical research of language, culture, intercultural communication and the relationship among them, this paper aims at finding approaches to cultivate and improve intercultural communicative competence of college students,which will promote the development of college English teaching.

1. Introduction
Nowadays intercultural communication is becoming more and more important with the rapid development of the world economy and frequent contacts among different countries. Furthermore, the development of World Web and Internet is changing the whole world into “global village”. So the situations today require a smooth and convenient communication. Since 1979, China has been opening up to the outside world. The political policy made it possible for Chinese people to fully enjoy the fruits of technological developments in transportation and communication. Chinese people are no longer isolated from the rest of the world. So, it is commonly believed that intercultural communicative competence (ICC) is very important for our country in economy construction, culture and education communication.
In order to get a good job after graduation, college students have spent a lot of time on English study, which makes a greater progress on applying English to daily life than before. However, they (including teachers) do not pay attention to students’ ICC. Just because lacking of it, many college students feel it difficult to communicate with foreigners in English. So, it is not enough to regard English teaching only as a language teaching in today’s education, because such teaching method ignores cultivating ICC, which needs our urgent changes in college English teaching.
