摘要:
随着中国经济的飞速发展和对外开放,传统的英语教学法已远远不能满足学生的要求及适应我国经济的进一步发展。但是,自从二十世纪九十年代交际教学法被引入我国以来,单一地使用交际教学法地英语教学模式却没有取得预想的效果。为了探究较为适合中国中学生学习英语的方法,本文对传统英语教学法的特点及不足进行了分析,探讨了构成交际教学法的基本原则和理论,并系统地比较和分析了两种课堂教学方法。然后讨论了我国中学课堂中英语教学的现状,最后提出了目前适合我国中学生学习英语的方法:即把传统的英语教学法和现代交际教学法结合起来。

Abstract:
With the rapid development of China's economy and further opening to the outside world, the traditional English teaching has been far from enough to meet the demand of students and adapt to the further economic development. However, the result of teaching English only using the communicative approach has not gained the expected results since it was introduced into China in the 1990s. In an attempt to find out what are the most adaptive teaching approaches for Chinese students in secondary schools, the author first analyzes some characteristics and the inadequacies of the traditional English teaching methods, and then discusses the basic principles and theories of the communicative approaches, and makes a comparison between the characteristics of the two classroom teaching methods systematically. Then the author analyzes the current situation of English teaching in secondary school. At last, I put forward the suitable methods for secondary school students to learn English: Integrating communicative approaches with traditional approaches.

1. Introduction
With the development of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), the new teaching approach has been introduced in China for more than ten years. The government made an immense effect to popularize it in English language teaching; try to improve the learners’ communicative competence. Yet, there is an argument in the academe: Are CLT suit for all of the countries?
China has its own culture and forms its special teaching method during the long history. Many linguistic experts have a viewpoint that “different methods suit different teachers and students in different context”.It is no doubt that CLT is a beneficial approach for English learning and teaching. We must make clear that when we accept a new teaching method from other countries, we should focus on “how to teach rather than what to teach”.
