Abstract:

Because of the great usage of English, all the countries in the world are taking English teaching and learning seriously. Now more and more people realize that the capability of mastering a second language, especially English, is quite important. And the effective audio-visual instruction plays an important role in a successful and enjoyable learning process. The thesis aims at introducing a way to study English effectively, applying English movies in English audiovisual-oral instruction.
The application of English movies offers a real language material and listening situation. Students could be exposed to large amount of vivid and standard oral English from the English movies, which contribute to improve students’ desires for English study. Besides, it is one of the best ways to cultivate and improve students’ visual, listening, speaking abilities effectively.

摘  要:

随着英语在世界范围内的应用越来越多,各国对英语教学的重视程度也不断加强,越来越多的人认识到学习第二语言的重要性。在英语学习过程中,英语的视听说学习也成为人们英语习得成功与否的重要因素。本文介绍了一种通过在教学中应用英文电影的方法来提高视听说教学的质量。
英语电影为英语教学提供了真实的语言材料和听力情景,在电影中学生能接触到大量形象生动、标准地道的生活语,能增强学生的求知欲。英语电影能够培养和提高学生的视听说等能力。

1. Introduction
1.1 Background information
Facing the great development of globalization, to master a second language becomes more and more important, especially the use of English. During the process of English learning, many English learners have troubles in authentic English listening and speaking. As a result, they could not communicate normally by using English. That’s why audiovisual-oral teaching and learning is one of the most difficult steps in English learning. English audiovisual-oral instruction is a kind of teaching activity based on the teaching laboratories. It is constructivist theory-based, multimedia computers and the Internet as a platform. Multimedia assists the audiovisual-oral English teaching and learning activities, which are mainly based on multimedia language learning system. Using computer is the key step in English audiovisual teaching activities, which are confined by the learners’ emotional situations and learning strategies. The aim of the exploration of English movies in audio-visual instruction is to develop students' English listening and speaking abilities, verbal ability and self-learning ability.
